Botswana Insurance Company Limited (BIC) was incorporated on the 12th August 1975 making it the oldest short term insurance company in Bostwana. However, when it commenced business it transacted in both general insurance and life assurance. To comply with The Botswana Insurance Act of 1987, it was renamed Botswana General Insurance Limited in 1991 and focused purely on short term insurance.
Zimnat Lion Insurance was awarded the management contract, providing the technical expertise, strategy and management to BIC. TA has a 62.5% shareholding in BIC through Zimnat Lion Insurance in the company.
Following this tremendous development, BIC aspires to be the insurer of first choice in the market it operates in and to also provide services that surpass the expectations of its clientele.
The company has two branches located in Gaborone and Francistown. The former, which is situated at the head office at the Fairgrounds, caters for the region south of Mahalapye and the latter, which is situated on St. Patricks Street, caters for the northern part of the country.
